Carson Mathes Grizzle

~September 5, 1996 - June 30, 2024~

To me DARE means hope for the future. If I hadn't been involved in DARE as a fifth grader and then gone to camp, I honestly feel like I would be a different person than I am today . I was fortunate enough to get the chance to be a camper and those few days where enough to influence me the right way. It helped my really understand how bad drugs and alcohol really are and the consequences of using them. I can honestly say I met my really life heros through DARE Glo, Boulder, and Ricky are all people I strive to be like, the really inspire me to stay drug free. They are examples of people who know the consequences of drugs and spend there lives trying to prevent our youth from ever trying drugs. I love all of them so much. When I first met them and my counselors as a camper I said to myself I'm gonna be like them I'm gonna do whats right and I'm gonna come back here as a counselor, and I did. I came back as a junior counselor the summer of my eighth grade year. Becoming a counselor was the best thing that ever happened to me coming to camp is the highlight of my summer, the highlight of my year even. Because I get to come to camp every summer and influence the youth of our community the right way the way away from drugs like my counselors influenced me. Because of DARE I have excelled in life because I've stayed away from drugs and alcohol. I've become FFA and 4-H president a member of National Honors Society a member of the East Shooting Team a leader in my school and community and excelled academically. I owe a lot of that to DARE.

In loving Memory of Carson Mathes Grizzle.
